Miles

Motivation has been a big problem for me over the past 2 years, but this December I decided I would push myself; I committed to riding every single day of December. The result was great, I didn’t do any huge rides, but I managed to clock at least a few miles every single day. At the turn of the year I decided to renew my commitment and pledged to myself to pedal 900 miles in the first 90 days of 2014.

It’s looking unlikely that I’m going to be able to meet that fairly ambitious goal, but here’s my progress to date.

YEAR-TO-DATE
Distance 526.8 mi
Time 57h 20m
Elev Gain 21,929 ft
Rides 47

Not a bad start for the year, and it includes a couple of pretty epic rides at redhills which features some brutal terrain, a fair number of miles pulling my grandkids, and almost all of those miles have been completed on my single speed. Yesterday I did a 30+ mile road ride with about 2,500 feet of climbing… Again on the single speed.

I’m feeling ambitious enough that I’m seriously thinking about signing up for the Tahoe Sierra 100, an epic 100 mile point to point race that ends in auburn… What do you think, should I go for it?
