New Web Host

It seems like every third post is about changing web hosting providers, but I did it again. I go tired of getting double and triple billed by my old hosting provider so I decided to mooch web space from a friend. Jason is a great guy and has been a huge help moving my site over to his server. If there are any problems with the site please Let me know.

New Melones – Rain or Shine

A couple weeks ago John P says “We should do more night rides Dennis”. So I suggested we hook up with the Angels Camp crew for a Tuesday Evening ride at New Melones. The message goes out, John says yes, Alex says yes. Ogre says “Rain or Shine”. And RAIN it did.
John and Alex showed up at my house a bit late, and they brought the rain with them. Just a drizzle as we loaded up the car. Then as we started rolling towards New Melones the rain picks up. “This is nearing my limit guys, I’m going to just hang in the car while you guys ride” quips Alex as we enter Angels Camp and the rain turns to a downpour. But when we got to the trailhead Alex geared up with us and we all set out. John says “You know guys we can only get so wet”.

Pacheco Pass with the Trogs

This weekend turned into a fairly busy one ride wise for me, I got a solo ride in at Sweetwater on Friday, a trogs ride at Pacheco Pass also known as Dinosaur Point on Saturday, a family ride on Sunday, a commuter ride in on Monday, and a 5:30 AM ride today. Overall about 60 miles in 5 days, not a record setting week but not bad.

While at Dino Point I snapped plenty of pictures and wrote up a small ride report check them out here.

New Lake Hogan Pictures

I posted some new pictures showing a lot of the upper trails at Coyote Point at Lake Hogan. The upper trails are an entirely different beast than the lower trail at Hogan, there is a huge amount of steep climbing and tough rocky downhills. If you enjoy rocky technical trails then you will probably have fun here. If you don’t like steep technical climbs then stick to the lower trails.

I’m slipping, this has been posted for over a week with no link. Here is the Link

Salmon Falls

I am finally able to settle down to write the ride report for Saturday’s kick butt ride at Salmon Falls. We started the day with 5, Ogre, Fiona (my wife Char), George, Joseph, and Fred. Weather was overcast and a bit foggy which kept much of the moisture from the previous nights rain on the trail. Overall traction was pretty good though and standing water was only an issue on a few sections of Sweetwater. We did have a few steep spots which were pretty hairy due to slippery conditions though.

Check out the Ride Report and Pictures Here.

Night Rides

I went on a great ride the other day with some of the trogs. We went to New Melones (Glory Hole) which is usually a fairly boring ride, but as an added twist we rode it at night under a full moon. If you’ve never been on a night ride before I suggest you try it, it can make even the most tame trail a bit more adventerous.

Ride Reports are a bit slim right now because it’s tough getting to new places in the winter time.

New link for Prarie City Mountain Bike Races

Sometime in late summer/ early fall Brian Joder from Prairie City Mountain Bike Racing had his domain name stolen from him. Domain name theft really pisses me off, this also happened to Fatrac and to my site as well in the past. In any case, the new link is :

http://www.racemtbikes.com

In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, the Prairie City Race Series is a Mountain bike racing series near Rancho Cordova. Go to their site and check it out.
