I am finally able to settle down to write the ride report for Saturday’s kick butt ride at Salmon Falls. We started the day with 5, Ogre, Fiona (my wife Char), George, Joseph, and Fred. Weather was overcast and a bit foggy which kept much of the moisture from the previous nights rain on the trail. Overall traction was pretty good though and standing water was only an issue on a few sections of Sweetwater. We did have a few steep spots which were pretty hairy due to slippery conditions though.

Night Rides
I went on a great ride the other day with some of the trogs. We went to New Melones (Glory Hole) which is usually a fairly boring ride, but as an added twist we rode it at night under a full moon. If you’ve never been on a night ride before I suggest you try it, it can make even the most tame trail a bit more adventerous.
Ride Reports are a bit slim right now because it’s tough getting to new places in the winter time.
New link for Prarie City Mountain Bike Races
Sometime in late summer/ early fall Brian Joder from Prairie City Mountain Bike Racing had his domain name stolen from him. Domain name theft really pisses me off, this also happened to Fatrac and to my site as well in the past. In any case, the new link is :
In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, the Prairie City Race Series is a Mountain bike racing series near Rancho Cordova. Go to their site and check it out.

Auburn TROGS ride
Group rides with the trogs always turn out to be a blast, this one was no exception. On Saturday I met up with the trogs and some of my other riding buddies in Auburn for a great ride exploring the best that the Auburn SRA has to offer. You can check out the pictures from the ride here.

Flying
My flying lessons have been progressing pretty well, the biggest problem I’ve had so far has been getting landings down pat. For some reason I have problems with the idea of pointing the plane at the ground for the landing. Yesterday I think I finally got the nack of it though, I made 5 successful landings and 2 of them were almost perfect. More important I really got the feel for the landing procedure and it just felt right.
New Links
A friend sent me a link to the Man’s Periodic Table which is the funniest most sexist thing I have seen in a long time. Then Brian sent me a link to his site BDDPro.com which has trail maps and elevation profiles for a bunch of Sacramento area and Tahoe trails.
Northstar at Tahoe and Keyesville Photos
I finally posted my Northstar photos. These are several weeks old and I’ve just been slow getting them online Check out the Northstar Photos here. Additionally Kevin and I headed down to Bakersfield for the annual October Classic at Mesa Marin Speedway so I took the opportunity to ride at Keyesville Recreation Area, which is home to the Keyesville Classic Mountain Bike Race. Check out the Keyesville Photos Here.
Auburn Ravine from the Sky
A couple of weekends ago Terry and I took his plane to Auburn for a burger at the airport cafe (great food). While we were in Auburn I figured I would swing by the Ravine and take some Aerial Photographs of the Auburn Ravine and surrounding areas. I had hoped to catch a few shots of Salmon Falls Trail as well but my batteries failed me.
