“Some news for you: I received an email from a visitor to the Darrington Trail (aka Salmon Falls). He had never ridden there before and was in search of the Mickey Mouse Trail and Flagstaff Trail. Well he found them both along with the landowner of the private property that these trails cross. Yes, indeed these two trails are on private property. Chris Marney tells me that the State Park property stops at 200 feet above the lake level (high water mark I suspect).

Climbing _Oat Hill_ Mine Road

Just north of Napa outside the town of Calistoga sits one of the coolest, least known mountain bike trails in Northern California. Oat Hill Mine trail starts just outside of Calistoga and climbs up to the Palisades. This trail has some of the best technical climbing in Northern California. There is also a huge section of technical trails at the top of the ride. The ride report is old but you can Check out the Pictures from our ride last weekend.

Lots of Miles in the Dark at Lake Hogan

John Pimlot and I rode at lake Hogan last night, he got over to my place around 4:45 but we had to hook up his light and I had to lube my bike so we didn’t leave until 5:15 and we got to the Lake at around 6:00PM. We parked at a day use area a few miles before the Bear Creek trailhead so we could geta few extra miles of climbing in (there are some fun road climbs/ descents on the way). When we set out it was still light enough that we didn’t turn the lightsuntil we reached the Singletrack at Bear Creek.
